Support for Skype 7.0 to end September 1, 2018

Microsoft has announced today that support for the classic version of Skype 7.0 will end on September 1, 2018. Skype version 8.0 is the new version, and is available for Windows 7 & 8.1, Mac and Linux.  Skype is a UWP (universal windows platform) app for Windows 10 in the Microsoft Store.

Updated mobile versions for iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android are available to support this change as well and available from the Google App Store or Apple App Store.

Skype for Business is separate from this change and there are planned changes ahead for Skype for Business.

Updated 9/27/2018: Microsoft will end support for Skype 7.x on November 1, 2018 for Windows and Mac, and November 15, 2018 for mobile devices.
