Mac Fruitfly Malware
Yesterday a few people started articles about a form of Malware for the Mac that many were unaware of called Fruitfly by Apple. This malware can provide someone access to your files, your camera on the Mac. Apple has already released an update to protect from this Malware that may have existed since 2014.
The likeliness that you have this form of Malware is quite small, if you would like to scan your Mac to make sure you can use Malwarebytes Antimalware for the Mac, it will detect this form of Malware and if found remove it from the computer. Malwarebytes will detect this form of Malware as OSX.Backdoor.Quimitchin. Like many forms of Malware there appear to be other variants of this Fruitfly malware this newer version found by Patrick Wardle. Patrick Wardle will share his findings on Wednesday and more information may become available at that time about the new version at the BlackHat Defcon Conference.
